I watched the Vicar of Dibley last night, it had a blatant plug for makepovertyhistory.org at the end and was followed by an "if you have been affected by the events portrayed in this programme..." screen.
I had been affected. I felt abused and manipulated by the writers for pushing a lefty political view based around an emotive topic.
It didn't suggest they write to Tony Blair to tackle probably the biggest iniquty Africa faces- rigged markets by the EU and the WTO.
Otherwise, it was an excellent episode, riotously gratuitously offensive whilst appearing superficially benign.
