Hunk of the month

This is Simon, a young prospective Round Table member and Mr. October 2003. He wasn't quite brave enough to take his trolleys off and it amused us that they had his name on!

The trophy was celebrating his first trip to Wales and meeting his first girlfriend. (ONLY JOKING!)

#7 in a series of 12 (& I'm #11).

Mr September

This is Phil, the Round Table Community & Attendance Officer 2003. (That is our Register he is using to protect his modesty, although a pocket diary would have sufficed, of course).

Phil works in I.T. and originally had the nickname "sicknote" although he was re-christened "DSB" after various community activities...

Half the calendar gone now, six hunks to go (well, five hunks and a fat b*st*rd).

Charter Booby

Paul was a prospective Round Table Member at the time back in 2003. He is holding a trophy that you didn't want to win- the Charter Booby awarded each meeting for being a plonker. (It was some sort of manifold mounted on a plinth).

From Batley Round Table Standing Orders:

8) Trophies

• The Charter Booby
Established in 1996 (and transferred from Pudsey Table), awarded at every meeting by the incumbent for the member who has demonstrated he has “the wrong stuff”. Examples include coming bottom at events, fighting with minor celebrities, eating cheese with custard, scoffing kebabs during meetings, being a DSB (note 1) and generally making a pratt of oneself. The physical trophy is a large manifold-like plumbing item.

(Note 1- DSB is an abbreviation for something far too offensive to be enshrined in Standing Orders)

Hunk of the month

This is Andy, Mr. Batley Round Table July 2003 naked Calendar man. He had a carpet & bed shop in the area but now lives in Golden, Canada. Back then, he was the Area Councillor.

In all the excitement...

..I forgot to post the May Batley Round Table 2003 naked Calendar man of the month and it is now June!

So here we go with a double helping of Yorkshire Hunk.
Gone, but not forgotten, David was by no means a dummy (he was a retail Manager). Back in 2004 he was a Speaker Finder, he is now living in Australia.

Stuart works in distribution and was a Batley honorary Member back in 2003. Is that a worm he is hiding? After all, his nickname is wriggler...

Meet Mr. April 2003

A love of flying, playing guitars and wearing regalia distinguishes Tony, our Batley President that year.

(Of course, a Ukelele would have sufficed...)

Calendar boys- uncovered!

Despite pleadings from the regulars, I feel it is necessary to reveal the high resolution image of my charity stunt. However, I'm going to drag the other eleven down with me as well. So, between now and March next year, I will reveal each Calendar boy in all his pink, hairy glory. (Round Table year runs from April to March due to annual committee elections which you don't want to be doing in December).

I was going to hang on until the dates coincided with real-time, but unfortunately that won't happen until 2031 and as I'll have probably been dead three years by then I think it is only fair that I give the other guys a crack of the whip. April to January are usable in 2008/9, March in 2010 (But February is only 2031 as it is a leap year).

February is a short month of course (which is why I was Mr. February 2004) and you will have forgotten about me when you see March- it is a real Lulu!

(Any Batley Round Tablers who want to persuade me not to put up their pics- Morley Community Radio is looking for sponsors for the next broadcast. It has to be worth at least £100!)

Just to give you a teaser, here is the rear cover.

Calendar Girls

About four years ago I organised (and took part in) a charity Calendar for Batley Round Table. Twelve blokes got their trollies off and protected their modesty with only the tools of their trade.

Meet Mr. February 2004.

In case you are wondering, I'm holding a Buttinski.

(It is deliberately a very low res image, as I have no desire for it to become an unofficial Corporate IT Screensaver!)
